Mikko Gaestel works as Photographer and Cinematographer.
Mikko Gaestel (*1982 in Hamburg) graduaded as »Meisterschüler« in video art and experimental film at University of Fine Arts Berlin in 2011. He is based in Berlin, where he maintains an independent artistic practice while working as a photographer/cinematographer and realizing video and installation work for theatre and artists including Elmgreen & Dragset, Christoph Schlingensief and Rimini Protokoll.
He is co-founder of the Berlin based company Expander Film focussing on projects for cultural institutions, features for television, stage design in theatre plays and documentary films. Expander also offers professional postproduction like color grading, sfx and animation as well as illustration and graphic design work.
Mikko Gaestels own video installations and experimental films have been exhibited at Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art Helsinki, Dumbo Arts Center New York, Kunstverein Wolfsburg, Bremerhaven Art Museum, Future Gallery Berlin and Goethe Institute New York among others.
